Fibers From Nature Lesson
Overview
Not only do plants provide us with many delicious edible products, they also produce fiber for clothing. This lesson introduces students to those non-edible products known as natural fibers with an emphasis on cotton. Students discover where cotton is produced on a national and global scale as well as what products are connected to what fibers.
Objectives
Students will:
- Identify non-edible agricultural products.
- Identify where cotton is produced on a national and global scale.
- Identify the sources for making fibers.
- Practice matching product name with fiber name and source of fiber.

Activity 1: 20-25 minutes
Activity 2: One class of research, 20 minutes of presentations
