Who’s Your Daddy? Teacher Workshop and Farm Tour

Florida Teachers,

Check us out on the Channel 20 News!!

Florida Agriculture in the Classroom offered another “Common Core on the Florida Farm” workshop Friday Jan. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Ocala. K-12 teachers who teach all subject areas (agriculture, language arts, science, math, social studies and others) were invited.

The workshop was be held at the Marion County Extension Office located at 2232 Jacksonville Road, Ocala, FL  34470. Teachers then got to tour The Sanctuary Equine Rehabilitation Center where we got to see different forms of therapy actual performed on horses.  Our next stop was Island Grove Ag Products and Winery, a blueberry and blackberry farm in Hawthorne. Teachers got to see how the berries were grown, find out how they are picked, processed and see how a small few are turned into wine.

Teachers received our Gardening for Grades school garden curriculum, Nutrients for Life soil and plant nutrient curriculum and equine lessons as part of the package.

Thank you to all the teachers who attended and made our workshop a success.  And a big THANK YOU to our Farm Tour Stop hosts who took time out of their busy day to show us around their facilities.

We are hoping to have 2 more Workshop/Farm Tour stops in Central and South Florida right after school gets out in June so keep checking back for more information.
