While it is commonly known that less than 2% of the population of the United States is actively farming, it is not widely known that 20% of all jobs in the United States are directly related to agriculture according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). These are the jobs that provide all of the other services, research, marketing, processing and inputs for the total food and fiber system. This lesson introduces students to the wide array of these careers.
Objectives: Students will be able to:
- Identify specific agricultural careers.
- Explore a career of interest.
- Use the Internet to gather information about a career in an agricultural field.
