Are Invasive Species Always Bad?

Brief Description:
Many species have been introduced over the millennium that humans have been traveling from continent to continent. Some of these species became invasive species that cause economic and environmental problems others did not. This lesson will focus on introduced species that have invaded but are not considered invasive or that were introduced so long ago that most people do not recognize them as introduced species.

Objectives: By the end of this unit the students will be able to:

  1. Identify that some invasive species are beneficial to humans and not harmful to the environment;
  2. Examine both positive and negative impacts of invasive species; and
  3. Graphically depict impact of the invader on the humans it impacts in a multitude of ways.
